Office

Albuquerque Pinho and Co is an architecture and design collaborative studio, founded in 2020 by Luís Albuquerque Pinho. The main focus is the architectural practice crossing between the fields of object design, wellbeing, critical thinking and aesthetics. With the majority of its projects sited in Portugal, and some international projects, the studio’s practice over the years is mainly dedicated to housing, cultural buildings for public use, and the development of urban planning programmes. All the projects have an ethos of generosity and economy, to serve life and community, utility and appropriation, with the goal of questioning establishments. Some of the relevant works in 2020 are the Renovation of the ÁgoraPorto Office space at Municipal Theatre Rivoli, Porto; House in Vilarinha, Porto; Housing complex at Cais do Cavaco, Gaia. On the expanded practice, the studio also designed exhibition displays commissioned for Galeria Vertical of Silo-Auto (2016), Porto; designed a installation for the public space within the context of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Porto Cultural Heritage of Humanity (2016), and also collaborated with the portuguese artist Carla Filipe on a project for a garden Art installation for the Ping Yao Sculpture park in China (2019).

Bio

Luís Albuquerque Pinho (Porto, 1978) has a degree in Architecture from Universidade Lusíada in Porto, in 2001. Collaborated with Isabel Furtado and João Pedro Serôdio, between 2000 and 2011. Associated Architect at Garcia e Albuquerque, between 2001 and 2019. Post-graduation student on Art Studies – Museum and Curatorial Studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto (FBAUP). During 2011, resident curator at Node Center Berlin. Enrolled the Independent Study Programme of Escola Maumaus. Since 2011 he has developed curatorial and research projects with Luís Pinto Nunes. Currently develops his own practice in architecture and consulting at Albuquerque Pinho and Co. In 2021 jury member of SHUTTLE grants, Porto City Hall's (Pláka).
